LIGHT- Andrew Ross
The way Andrew Ross captures light in his photography is something that I want to accomplish. The direct lumination brings attention to the subject matter and gives the image a focal point. The light of Ross's Photography also seems to give the spaces captured an airy, empty and abandoned feel.
MESSAGE and COMPOSITION - Yves Marchand and Romain Meefre
The messages that Yves and Romain portray in their work of the abandoned Detroit is very similar to what I am aiming to achieve in my own work. The images of these abandoned spaces communicate the effects of the elements and how they have managed to deconstruct the spaces original state. The way that they have composed the photographs allow the viewer to envision how the space used to be. The framing of the images and the point of perspective trap the viewer by drawing you're eye into the picture. Doing this ensures that the viewer is focused on what the artist whants you to see. In this case, areas of decay.
Refined Goal
After the last two shoots I have decided to refine my focus for what I want to portray in my images. I have decided to remain focused on the deconstruction and construction of space and how the space but in a slightly different way. I want to focus on the construction of the deconstruction where different elements contribute to the construction of the deconstruction of space over time.
